Summer 2024 news!

Apologies are certainly in order, because the last post I made was wayyy back in the beginning of the year.  So without further ado, here are some updates at to what’s happening in the Land of the Lioness!

I am once again back in the freelance writing game after my departure from a full-time journalism role.  As before, I am eager to take on freelance work, but am always open to full-time or part-time staff roles.  In addition, though I am currently in a different full-time job outside of journalism that pays the bills, I am also beginning to look for other clerical, administrative, copy and content writing, marketing and public relations positions.  As much as I would love to permanently work in journalism, the continuing obstacles when it comes to getting and keeping jobs in the profession, the overall state of the industry, and the high cost of living here in Massachusetts make it painfully clear that I must continue to pursue other permanent career options that are more lucrative and stable. In my heart, I don’t want to give up on finally nabbing the right full-time journalism job for me, but the writing is on the wall. If I want to continue to pay the bills and make things financially better and more secure for myself and my future, this industry is probably not it. I must make a detour. Time will tell.

Of course, journalism is my first love, and most recently, I had pieces run in Den of Geek, Simply Recipes, a return to Turner Classic Movies, and as of July, made my Entertainment Weekly debut! I am uploading these articles to my PORTFOLIO as soon as possible, but you can find them a bit more quickly by heading over to my most-used social media accounts (@katykostakis on Instagram, @KatyKostakis on X/Twitter). Links to the pieces are attached to various posts I have made.

Speaking of my socials, if you follow me, you may already have heard about this. For those of you who have not, I am resurrecting Eklektiki Mageia! This has been in my head for quite a while, and similar to the existing blog posts with this tag, will feature content in the spiritual, magickal, and mystical –tarot, astrology, crystals, oils, deities, books, candles, magickal products and more!  It will now be an entirely separate entity from my main website, which will continue to focus on my journalistic pursuits.  Current posts here tagged as part of Eklektiki Mageia will be re-posted on the new site.  I cannot wait for all of you to see it!

Its new home will indeed be ekletikimageia.com and I am in the initial process of building and designing it from scratch in the coming weeks.  I am very excited about brainstorming as the type of content that I will feature there, and I hope to launch it later this summer/early-to-late fall of this year. You can start following that account on Instagram @eklektikimageia and watch that space for updates and the official launch. And yes, as you can see below, I am back to fully being a brunette. 🙂

Finally, with summer being my favorite season, I am trying to once again head out into the warm weather and enjoy myself. After watching the PHENOMENAL second season of Interview with the Vampire, I cannot recommend it enough. I have long been a gigantic fan of the books, and the production crew and cast has done an amazing job adapting the works.  To keep going with my love of Lestat de Lioncourt, I am now reading one of Anne Rice’s final Vampire Chronicles novels, “Prince Lestat and the Realms of Atlantis” and have many other books in my personal library to read!

There will be much to do in the coming weeks, and as always, thank you for taking this ride with me.

Wishing you endless sunshine,

K.
